Nikki Usher will join us as part of the Fall 2021 Information Inequalities Speaker Series.

Nikki Usher, PhD, will discuss her new book, News for the Rich, White, and Blue: How Place and Power Distort American Journalism. The book considers how larger structural inequalities and political tensions in American life are instantiated through and by the news media.

Dr. Usher is an associate professor at The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the College of Media’s Journalism Department (with affiliate appointments in the Communication and Political Science). Her research focuses on news production in the changing digital environment, blending insights from media sociology and political communication.
