Funding for Internships/Research/Learning Opportunities
Funding grants offered through the DeWitt Wallace Center
With generous support from the Susan Tifft Internship Fund, the Lorber Fund, the McCarthy Family Internship Fund, the Hughes Family Fund, Robert Windeler and many alumni and parent donors, the DeWitt Wallace Center provides grant funding for Duke students pursuing internships in journalism and media organizations, as well as support for research, conference participation, and other learning opportunities.
Internship Funding
Students must submit an application to be considered for internship funding and will be required to complete a post-internship report. Priority will be given—though not limited—to juniors (rising seniors), students enrolled in the Journalism & Media minor, and those undertaking unpaid or low-paid internships. Awards are up to $6,500 per student.
Please note that the application deadline falls late in the spring semester to accommodate the timing of journalism and media internship cycles. As a result, funding is typically disbursed at the end of May.

In most cases, funding is provided through direct payment of approved expenses, such as airfare, lodging, or conference registration fees.
