During DEMAN Weekend ’18, The Dewitt Wallace Center hosted Duke Alums Josh Chapin ’09 (ABC11 Eyewitness News) and Sarah Krueger ’12 (WRAL-TV) for a conversation on “communities in crisis”. Josh and Sarah, both TV news reporters, showed clips and spoke to their experiences on and off camera reporting Hurricane Florence and other major news events. They took questions including “How do we cover our community during times of crisis?”, “What do the logistics look like behind the scenes?”, and “What kind of emotional toll does it take on you as a reporter?”. Hosted at the Rubenstein Arts Center (RUBY), DEMAN encourages connections between alumni and students working in or are interested in creative industries, including journalism.
