Sarah Krueger is an Emmy award-winning journalist who works within the DeWitt Wallace Center for Media and Democracy as Managing Editor of The 9th Street Journal, a student publication covering Durham news.

Sarah started her career as a TV reporter in New York City. Most recently, she worked as the investigative reporter for WRAL-TV in Raleigh, where she still serves as a contributor.

Her work has been honored with three Emmys and a Regional Edward R. Murrow award. In 2025, she also won the AP Freedom Award for public records reporting, and was named Investigative Reporter of the Year by the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas.

Sarah is excited to be back in Sanford, where she spent many days as a student. She received her bachelor’s degree from Duke with majors in Spanish and International Studies, and a certificate in Policy Journalism and Media Studies. She earned her master’s degree from Duke, too, in Graduate Liberal Studies. She lives in Durham with her husband, two sons, and golden retriever.
