The DeWitt Wallace Center for Media & Democracy, in the Sanford School of Public Policy, is the hub for journalism and media studies at Duke. The Center includes the Duke Reporters’ Lab, a faculty/student research center; the Policy Journalism & Media Studies certificate program; about 20 classes per year under the PJMS subject area; an active events program; and funding grants for student internships and research. The Center’s work focuses on the interaction between news media and policy; watchdog and accountability reporting in the U.S. and around the world; and the media’s role in a democracy.
