Margaret Sullivan previously served as the former public editor of the New York Times and media critic for The Washington Post. A native of Buffalo, New York, she began her career as a summer intern at the Buffalo News and rose to be the first woman to serve as the paper’s top editor. Her first book, “Ghosting the News: Local Journalism and the Crisis of American Democracy” was published in July, 2020. She is a former member of the Pulitzer Prize board, the mother of a son and a daughter, and an avid tennis player. She lives in New York City.
