Daniela Flamini ’19 and Professor Mark Stencel hosted “Fact-Checking Politics in Argentina and Around the World” as a part of Duke’s At Home in the World program. Daniela is a Trinity senior who tracks political fact-checking projects around the world for the Duke Reporters’ Lab. During her presentation, she discussed her internship with fact-checking organization Chequeado during the summer of 2019. In Argentina, there was widespread debate about abortion as well as distrust for news sources, such as Clarín. Coming from the United States, Daniela explained how surprised she was to hear “progressive” positions from young pro-life Argentinians on the recent legalization debate.
